No Sew Kids Tutu

May 14, 2013 by thepolishedbutton

The toddler is well into her dressing up at the moment, but as an ex costume designer I’m ashamed to tell you she had no home made costumes in her collection. Baaad mother!
I spotted this fab tutorial over on Claire Payne Handmade’s blog, so dug out the selection of organza and tulle remnants I had and got scissor happy. These are dead easy to make and look super cute! I went for a mermaidy feel with different lengths of fabric strips and shimmery blue colours. I made 2 as the toddler has a little friend who is equally as costume obsessed and who had a birthday coming up. We went to visit them today so the girls could prance around in their fairy skirts together, but could I get them both to stand still at the same time for a photo? You’re joking…!

What a treasure your site is proving to be. So many pretty things to look at and some quite inspirational projects to try – I love the little ‘rain hat’ (actually, I think a rain hat might be more useful this summer). Anyway, I’m going to have another look at the buttons; ooooooooo!!
