The kindness of strangers

September 10, 2013 by thepolishedbutton

I returned from a weekend away yesterday to 2 parcels waiting for me. And what lovely parcels they were. Firstly, I won a blog competition hosted by Life of Yablon, and received this very cute little pencil case, by Sew Lomax. Initially I thought I may let the toddler have it as she had broken her last one, but I soon realised it was far too precious for her crayons, so it now has pride of place in my sewing basket, for a tape measure, snips and chalk.

The second parcel was a true surprise. I had recently been chatting via email to one of my customers looking for a specific dress pattern, and we ended up talking about her up coming wedding, and her love of buttons and haberdashery (of course!) This lovely lady said she had a bag of vintage buttons belonging to her mum, and she wanted me to have them. Lo and behold, a bag of gorgeous buttons and a sweet note card arrived, and I was so touched that she had wanted to share her stash with me.

So, a big thank you to Lesley, for being so kind. (I am returning the favour with some vintage brooches she can use for her wedding!)
Don’t you just love a warm fuzzy feeling?
