Long time no speak! For those of you who have been following my blog, you may have already guessed why it’s taken me a while to post! I’ve been very busy having a baby!! Our gorgeous little boy arrived 6 weeks ago and we have had a lovely time getting to know each other!

Here he is modelling the last thing I made before his arrival – a little patchwork play mat.

This was dead easy – 9 smaller squares sewn together for the top, a plain backing and a layer of wadding sandwiched in the middle. Finished off with some bias binding at the edges. It comes in very handy, especially as it can be bunged in the washing machine and dries quickly too! I used a nautical polycotton (available on the website) and some vintage fabric scraps, which are lovely and soft after being washed and worn so many times!

On the subject of mats, here is a change/play mat I made to order a while ago – the same principle but this time in oilcloth so it can be wiped clean after a nappy change!
